The Hidden Dangers of How Processed Foods Affect Our Health and Mind

Gut&Glory.fit

In a world where food is abundant and easily accessible, we often forget the importance of ingredient transparency.
Most of us don’t give much thought to what goes into our food—until we start experiencing the negative effects. Many people are suffering from digestive issues, lack of energy, and even mental fog, all of which can be directly related to the food we eat.
However, one of the most important factors when choosing food is transparency: What exactly are we consuming?
Ingredients that are hidden, processed, or not clearly labeled can make a big difference in how we feel—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

That’s why understanding what we consume is more crucial than ever. It empowers us to make informed choices, take control of our health, and ultimately feel better in both body and mind.
Let’s dive deeper into the topic of ingredient transparency and its powerful impact on our health and overall well-being.

The Journey from Factory to Table

The following questions and answers give insight into the power of ingredient transparency, food choices, and how they affect our health, mood, and overall well-being.

1. Why do you think ingredient transparency is more important than ever in today’s world?
Ingredient transparency is more important than ever in today’s world because we live in a time when we have access to an overwhelming variety of ingredients that most people are unaware of.
There are ingredients being used in everyday products that most of us don’t even know exist—ingredients that can harm us.
The reality is that many of the foods we consume every day contain hidden ingredients that aren’t necessary or even healthy for us.             Understanding what goes into our food empowers us to make better choices for our health, and it ensures that we can trust what we put into our bodies.

2. How do you think the lack of transparency in food ingredients has affected people’s health and overall well-being today?
The lack of transparency in food ingredients has undoubtedly impacted our health in significant ways. I don’t really know if companies can hide ingredients, I want to believe that when I read the labels, I see the truth. But, if you buy something from a bakery, for example, you can never know what ingredients exactly they use.
It makes it difficult for us to track what we’re eating and understand how it’s affecting our body. As a result, people are suffering from chronic conditions like bloating, fatigue, digestive issues, and even mental fog.
The truth is that when we know exactly what we’re putting into our bodies, we can make informed decisions and prioritize foods that nourish us rather than those that harm us.

3. Can food ingredients affect more than just our physical health? How do you think bad food choices impact our mood and mental health?
Absolutely. Food is directly tied to our mental and emotional state.
Many processed foods offer a quick burst of pleasure, but they don’t provide the necessary nutrients our body needs to perform at its best. Over time, these foods can create a chain reaction where we experience mental fatigue, irritability, and even depression.
You cannot even realize that it is probably happening from the food we’re eating. sometimes you can have many problems with your body and your mood that they are caused from processed food 100%.
That’s why, eating whole, nutrient-dense foods can boost our mood, improve focus, and help us feel more balanced overall.
But on the flip side, when we consume poor-quality food, it depletes our energy and makes it harder for us to focus, leading to a decline in our mental well-being. So. if you want a short-term satisfaction, go out there and buy some chips or some croissant.

4. Back then, people didn’t have as many processed foods like today. How do you think their health benefited from simpler, natural ingredients?

Like any animal in the earth, humans have to eat foods that the earth produces, and not foods that are produced in a factory, with ingredients that didn’t ever exist in the earth.
I cannot know if the people back then were healthier or no, but they didn’t have access to the processed foods we consume today, and while it might seem like a limitation, it actually worked in their favor. But I suppose they were healthier, because they were putting inside their bodies foods that their bodies are made to use for energy, and survival.
We discussed more about this Simpler Retro Way of Living  , which is what we believe in and long for today.
Although nowadays medicine supplements have improved, they give us a shortcut and we forget that if we want to heal or feel better and stronger, we have to start from food that includes the nutrients that we need and use the supplements only in special cases but not as long-term cure.
Because no matter how many medicines or supplements we take, if we don’t change our diet and don’t try to eat basic single ingredient foods it’s almost impossible to heal and we keep on having medication and medication and medication… that have side effects and maybe they will cause us more health problems. Then, we’ll take more medication to cover the problems that the previous medication caused us and?  We end up instead of giving our money for food, to giving our money for medicine and supplement.

5. Can you share any personal experiences where eating a certain food or ingredient hurt your mood or energy levels?
Yes, for me, bread is a huge trigger. Whether it’s pure bread or gluten-free options, I can’t seem to escape the bloating that follows after I eat it. My body feels heavy, and it’s harder for me to breathe.
The worst part is that I can feel mentally drained, tired, and even stressed after consuming it. While others might tolerate bread just fine, I believe there are other foods out there that cause us problems, but we cannot find them because we are having mixed meals.
That’s why it’s so important to listen to our bodies and understand the effects of what we consume on our energy, mood, and overall health.

6. What’s the most surprising or eye-opening ingredient you discovered and how did it change the way you view your diet?
For me, bread again stands out as an eye-opening ingredient. It’s not just gluten I’ve realized, but the combination of processed carbs and sugars in bread that seems to affect my body.
These ingredients don’t just sit in our stomach; they have long-term effects on our health. or maybe it has to do with the way they make it nowadays because everything happens fast and just because they need to have more and more production, they don’t give it the time that it needs to be properly cooked.
Also sugar and carbs don’t help me to control my appetite. My body feels sluggish, my mind foggy, and I struggle to maintain focus after consuming bread.
Realizing that these foods are full of additives that don’t nourish our bodies helped me rethink my entire approach to eating.
It’s clear that when we nourish our body with real, whole foods, the results speak for themselves.

7. If you were to give advice to someone trying to improve their diet and mood, what should they look for (or avoid) in food labels?
My advice is simple: avoid anything with long, complicated ingredient lists.
The fewer ingredients, the better. Foods with fewer than four ingredients are typically the best choice. If there are too many unknowns or hard-to-pronounce ingredients on the label, it’s likely a sign that the food is processed.
Stick to natural, whole foods as much as possible. Always check the labels and know what’s going into your body and avoid processed snacks and packaged meals that are laden with sugars and unhealthy fats (fructose, corn syrup, canola oil…)

8. Looking at today’s food industry, how can ingredient transparency empower customers to make healthier choices?
Ingredient transparency is a game-changer. When people know exactly what’s in their food, they can make more informed, healthier choices.
If somebody wants to really know what he/she is eating, they should always check the ingredient labels and then do some research to know about what these ingredients are made of and what do they cause to their bodies.
For example, if a food label clearly lists all the ingredients, people can choose products that align with their health goals and avoid those that contain harmful additives.
This transparency helps people build a healthy relationship with food, and they can take control of their own well-being rather than blindly trusting food companies.
With more knowledge, consumers can demand higher-quality foods that promote health rather than contributing to sickness.
But the point is that if you buy foods that have no labels, you already know that the food you bought doesn’t have these harmful ingredients.
So, in the end it’s much easier this way than trying to be an expert and learn about all these ingredients they add, besides day is busy and not everyone has the time to do it.

9. In your opinion, what do you think the next step should be in improving food quality for the future?
The next step is simple: stop supporting food companies that prioritize profit over our health. Just by ignoring this type of foods (processed) we can have our revolution.
As consumers, we have the power to demand better food quality. We need to support companies that offer transparency in their ingredients and work to eliminate harmful additives and preservatives. Instead of buying processed foods, we should return to local, sustainable sources and focus on the foods that nature intended for us.
This shift will not only improve our health but also empower future generations to make better, more conscious food choices.
Don’t give them our money for making us sick, so we end up taking medication and give even more money.
